BIRTHPLACE OF THE TRANSLATOR OF THE BIBLE INTO LATIN – ZRENJ

ISTRIADUCTION All Year| No Working Time | Free Entrance Aproximately 10km from Oprtalj, going up hill you will come to a small place call Zrenj. According to some historical sources Zrenj is the birthplace of St. Jerome (347-420 yr.), Saint and translator of the Bible into Latin. In the center of Zrenj is the church of St. Jurja with a bell tower, from which you can see most of the central Istria. Every year in August is held the International Meeting of accordion, where accordionists from Italy, Slovenia and Croatian meet and performe. Zrenj and nearby villages are famous for their farmhouse restaurants and hunting. Enjoy the local food, comfortable accommodation and natural beauty of the area.
