Between dinosaur trails, secluded beaches, beautiful landscapes, sea caves, and islands – it's impossible to be bored. Kayaking is a great way to explore this area, especially the islands and the sea caves. It's even more enjoyable on hot summer days when you don't feel like walking in the heat. Istrakayak is one of the companies you can rent kayaks from or participate in guided tours to the sea caves. The starting point is Školjić ,a small bay inside the park, fairly close to the islands and the caves. When participating in a guided tour, you'll sightsee all the beauties directly from the sea while paddling. You can expect to swim in the crystal clear water inside the cave and observe the sea life when snorkeling. It's a great feeling being able to come that close to the underwater world. THE SUBMERGED CITY OF SIPAR

ISTRIADUCTION September | Weekend| Free Entrance Along the west coast of Istria, four kilometers from Umag is the flooded town of Sipar, to which many legends are associated. During high tides and today you can see the remains of this ancient city that springs from the sea. Sipar Castle was built probably around the year 1000, next to the already missing Siparis, when it allegedly once served as a lighthouse. At that time, nearby Umag suffered from robbers several times, and it is not excluded that the castle was built by pirates who, when they conquered Siparis, lived there and prepared for their further expeditions from here. The castle was in good condition until 1943, when the Germans demolished its upper part with artillery for strategic reasons. CREEK BUTONIGA – THE HIDDEN JEWEL OF ISTRIA

ISTRIADUCTION  All Year | No Working time | Free Entrance U subotu 4.2.2017. godine uputio sam se u kanjon potoka Butonige, kako bih istražio taj skriveni dragulj Istre. Potok Butoniga je poznat kao jedan od tri najveća pritoka istoimenog akumulacijskog jezera, no postoji prilično malo teksta i fotografija o njemu i to sam želio ispraviti. Nedaleko Starog grada (Zelengrada) u potok Butoniga utječe i Grdoselski potok, a područje oko Grdoselskog potoka slovi za jedinu istarsku prašumu. Oba su potoka prepuna prekrasnih slapova, a u vrijeme mog posjeta potok je obilovao vodom, što mu je dalo svu čar. U pet sati koliko sam proveo u kanjonu izmijenila su se sva četiri godišnja doba i na samom kraju sam izgubio bitku s kišnim oblacima, no ostaje veliko zadovoljstvo i oduševljenje potokom koji je urezao svoje korito u kamen i oblikovao prava mala remek dijela. Na području oko nekadašnjeg Zelengrada postojalo je čak 10 mlinova, a ostatke njih četiri sam pronašao prilikom ovog foto istraživanja. OPRTALJ – CHESTNUT FESTIVAL

ISTRIADUCTION  October | Working time:  Weekend Event | Free Entrance October in Oprtalj is dedicated to Kestenijada. The first manifestation of this kind in Istria offers visitors the opportunity to enjoy this typical autumn fruit growing in the forests of the Oprtalj region. The event takes place in Oprtalj, in four differently different locations but interrelated with the theme of chestnut and riches of autumn fruit. On the square at the parish church pastry and pastry-bakery trades will present the sweet side of gastronomic offer on chestnut basis. Pastry workshops are also organized for all interested parties. At the same location, its products will be presented by producers of agricultural products from Oprtalj Municipality. There are two already traditional exhibitions, hunting trophies and mushrooms, and exhibition of works by participants of a small art colony. On the square at Lođe you can taste salty chestnut based dishes as well as mushroom and game boilers prepared in front of visitors. Raw and roasted chestnuts will be prepared and sold on several locations, along with a large bakery on the square in Lođe.

Traditional festival of the snail is place where you can taste various snail specialties. Due to the highly prized meat snails dishes are considered a delicacy. During the day you have in the city a lot of things from photo exhibitions, different performance, race on ball bearing vehicle, bike tour, music, etc... The festival includes the public tasting of almost all of the teran wines produced in and around Motovun, and usually around 20 producers join the tasting and the competition in which the best teran of the festival is chosen. The Festival also exhibits truffles and the biggest, which can grow as heavy as 500 grams, is awarded the title "Veli Jože". MISTY MORNING IN MOTOVUN

ISTRIADUCTION  All Year | Working time: 0-24h | Free Entrance   MOTOVUN MIST | I've always wanted to capture Motovun's famous morning mist. Legendary mist rises from Mirna river's valley up to the hilltop on which Motovun is placed so the town looks like an island. I finally got an opportunity to photograph it and I've circulated all around Motovun and took photos from hills in Motovun surroundings and conclusion is that Motovun looks like a fairy tale town from every single angle. One of the perspectives of local tourism, which is the most important sector of local economy, should be, literally "Selling the fog".
