ISTRIADUCTION April| Free Entrance We visited the beautiful Motovun and toured the walls with a beautiful view of the Mirna valley. After the tour we decided to eat something local and went to the tavern "Pod Voltom". The tavern itself is under the vault before entering the main square where the entrance is located. The tavern has a traditional warm colors with a fireplace and local patterns from Istria. They offer fresh asparagus, truffles and teran from Motovun. We ordered asparagus with "pljukanci" and gnocchi with freshly grated truffles. The warmth of the tavern with Istrian traditional elements and a stone floor with an additional charm of meticulousness and purity brings a special touch. WHITE TRUFFLE HUNT IN MOTOVUN FOREST

ISTRIADUCTION September| Free Entrance Early in the morning, we met in the Motovun forest to embark on another season of white truffle hunting. After the gathering and coffee, we were assigned an official hunter from the Istrian Truffle Association, who showed us the way where his dogs will go hunting. The hunter took with him two beautiful dogs Lotu and Bibu who are extremely trained and obedient and we immediately fell in love with them. While we were walking through the Motovun forest, our group of truffles passed a handful of information related to the story of truffles. It was rumored why the Motovun forest and its land bring one of the most important habitats of white truffles in the world. After the introductory speech, we were already lucky that Biba sniffed the first truffle, and immediately the action started and digging with a specialized spatula "Vanga" and finding a smaller specimen of white truffle. The delicate smell of fresh white truffles "attracted" visitors to smell the most expensive type of mushroom in the world. BIKE TRAIL “STARA FERATA” IN MOTOVUN

ISTRIADUCTION In May | Weekend | Free Entrance The "Stara Ferata" bike trail starts and ends at the foot of Motovun, a picturesque medieval town in the heart of the Istrian peninsula, and 21.3 km long leads you along the beautiful Parenzana route from Motovun to Vižinada, the green valley of the river Mirna and fairytale vineyards of Motovun. It was named after Parenzana, a former narrow-gauge railway (in operation from 1902 to 1935), and today a favorite cycling and hiking trail in Istria. The trail is moderately difficult (yellow mark) due to several ascents from the Mirna valley towards Brkač, while the rest of the trail is easy. You drive almost entirely on macadam (18.3 km), while the asphalt is only 3 km. It is not entirely marked with characters, so follow the GPX trail and instructions at: https://bit.ly/3cXnGiP. HALLELUJAH CAVES

ISTRIADUCTION All Year | No working time | Free Entrance Between Buzet and Motovun, lies a health spa Istarske toplice with massages, saunas and swimming pools, but the climber‘s gaze will drift to the rocks that surround it. There you can find spectacular climbing sector called Hallelujah Caves, equipped by living legend of world's climbing scene Gerhard Hoerhager and his friends. They also made a trail so everyone in good condition can climb to this magnificent place with overview on Mirna river's valley and picturesque Motovun. Author of the most difficult route is Klemen Bečan Bečko from Slovenia. Name of the route is Cavemen's Playground (difficulty grade 8c+). These are the directions to climb, from the trail author himself: "There is a trail going up what we made and we always parked on the end of the road in a old quarry. You drive in to the area from the thermae then go right to the end of the road and up an S curve on a gravel road (50m) in to the quarry and Park there. FEŠTA OD FRUTI I FRUIT FESTIVAL IN KALDIR NEAR MOTOVUN

ISTRIADUCTION  In September | Working time: 11.00 - 24h | Pay per Entrance Fešta od fruti (Fruit Festival) is held in the place called Kaldir, near Motovun, at the end of September. At festival visitors can taste many fruit based sweets made by valuable members of the Kaldir Association, as well as buy products from local producers. This manifestation is the crown of the Kaldir's Fruit Market, held every other Sunday during the summer, where seasonal, freshly harvested fruits can be purchased. This year, the 11th Fruit Festival, Kaldir, takes place on Sunday, 29.9.2019. In Kaldir you can: Buy fresh homemade fruits and fruit products. Taste homemade marmalade, pancakes, applesauce, apples in beer dough and gnocchi with plums, but also fuži and pljukanci with stew. The program starts at 11am. You'll be entertained by the singers of Mali veliki mikrofon, the Bambus Band, the Malvazija Band and host Meri Simičić Beato. The program takes place under a tent and free shuttle service is provided from the parking lot to the festival. Adult ticket is 10,00 kn. OPRTALJ – CHESTNUT FESTIVAL

ISTRIADUCTION  October | Working time:  Weekend Event | Free Entrance October in Oprtalj is dedicated to Kestenijada. The first manifestation of this kind in Istria offers visitors the opportunity to enjoy this typical autumn fruit growing in the forests of the Oprtalj region. The event takes place in Oprtalj, in four differently different locations but interrelated with the theme of chestnut and riches of autumn fruit. On the square at the parish church pastry and pastry-bakery trades will present the sweet side of gastronomic offer on chestnut basis. Pastry workshops are also organized for all interested parties. At the same location, its products will be presented by producers of agricultural products from Oprtalj Municipality. There are two already traditional exhibitions, hunting trophies and mushrooms, and exhibition of works by participants of a small art colony. On the square at Lođe you can taste salty chestnut based dishes as well as mushroom and game boilers prepared in front of visitors. Raw and roasted chestnuts will be prepared and sold on several locations, along with a large bakery on the square in Lođe.
