Located in the suburbs of Pula tavern „Taj“ offers a warm domestic ambient on a nice location, not far from the city center. The inside has a traditional Istrian stone architecture of an old house with a fireplace in the middle.
We sat on the terrace which provides lots of shade to catch some summer breeze. They serve great prosciutto, Istrian cheese and fabulous olive oil as an appetizer. This time as the main course we wanted something different so we ordered a traditional Istrian meal called „maneštra“ a vegetable stew made with spring corn. And it was delicious. Except that „Taj“ has a verity of fish dishes and great squid, locally called „calamari“. Staff is really friendly and the ambient is warm and nice.
Tips: one of their specialties is roasted lamb made on fire under a baking lid.
